Introduction

My name is Sadat Mousavi.

I have been in love with painting since I was a student in school. However, when I entered university to study Psychology, my life focus changed. After having achieved a PhD, I became a lecturer at university and was involved with research, teaching, and running a private clinic. In addition, I wrote and translated a number of books. By 2010 I had achieved all that I wanted to in the field of psychology, so decided to attend a six month painting course. This was a life changing moment because I discovered that painting enhanced my mood and enabled me to express myself through shape and colour. I hope that by sharing my painting, this might have a simialr effect on others.

History of my land

Learn more about Persia, and its history.

Persia, historic region of southwestern Asia associated with the area that is now modern Iran. The term Persia was used for centuries and originated from a region of southern Iran formerly known as Persis, alternatively as Pārs or Parsa, modern Fārs. Parsa was the name of an Indo-European nomadic people who migrated into the region about 1000 BC. The use of the name was gradually extended by the ancient Greeks and other peoples to apply to the whole Iranian plateau. The people of that region have traditionally called their country Iran, “Land of the Aryans.” That name was officially adopted in 1935.
